Fathers hit rock-bottom in B-grade

A Founding Fathers six member quad struggled this evening in a in a dismal 139 run B-Grade drubbing. A search for answers in the car park with beer boy Gilly having a range of crisp, frosty options accompanied by bartender-like perspective, revealed the likely outcome of a big win with a squad of eight fit Fathers.

Acting Admin Captain Nads played all the cards to rally the eight. But with big gun veterans Snorkey, Our Kylie, Hugo, Choco, Itchy, Gristle and Kevin on the sidelines this week, the Fathers even suffered the indignity of a -5 run penalty for not having matching shirts. What could Nads have possibly done?

Having retained the Captaincy after not losing the previous week's ANZAC DAY BLOCKBUSTER, Norris looked to all hands for options and found nothing but enthusiasm, drive, confidence, pride and excellence. Norris put it simply: "If you don't put 8 on the ground you are always going to struggle in B-Grade. We had our superstars on the sidelines, apart from Nads and Inzy and Gilly and Conga and Gladdy. The Fathers best runner between the wickets (Inzy - 6) played with a bad ankle sprain. Whaddaya gonna do? We defended the total knowing every delivery was a wicket opportunity and never gave up hope. We know we can whip their a*se."

After losing the toss and being sent in, Norris took the strike and never looked back. Man of the Match Norris knocked match high runs of 18 and 29 in match high partnerships with Conga and Gilly. Gladdy was next best with another no fuss 11 not out. Amazingly, Norris piled on 47 of the Fathers total 78 runs.

Gilly posted mach best figures of 3 for 18 and took out the white line fever award for the 14th consecutive match. There weren't many positives for the bowlers with Norris having second best figures of 2 for 23.

Gilly and Norris each copped a FINE for failing to take the hat trick (although Gilly was robbed of a chance that went to ground in a sitter of the match nomination by Nads).

Gladdy (1 for 9) and Nads (1 for 44) were machine like with the ball but unlucky due to a bit of bleeding on the mid off boundary. Inzy (2 for 29) and Conga (0 for 26) were unlucky. If part time keeper Norris hadn't grassed stumping after stumping off the bowling of Gilly (1 for 17) , Gladdy (1 for 19) and Nads (0 for 12) in the final three overs it was anyone's match.

Inzy was gracious in the field (particularly to the batsmen) and sportingly dropped the sitter of the match (FINE) off the last ball of the match thus saving Nads who had done more than the necessary ignominy.

The Fathers look forward to a late start next week (8:10 or 9:30) (tbc).
